NICK PRICE JOINS CVS CAREMARK CHARITY CLASSIC FIELD

Three-Time Major Winner on PGA TOUR Adds Name to Impressive Roster

 

Price will be paired with Retief Goosen, who is making his first appearance at the CVS Caremark Charity Classic

 

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (April 21, 2009) – Coming off his first Champions Tour victory, Nick Price will play in the CVS Caremark Charity Classic June 21-23 at the Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, R.I.   During Sunday’s exciting play at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am, Price overcame three double bogeys to win by two strokes.  

Price, a two-time CVS Caremark Charity Classic Champion (2001, 2006), will pair with two-time U.S. Open Champion Retief Goosen for the 36-hole team event.  Goosen, who is currently ranked 10th in the FedEx Cup standings, grabbed his first win of the season last month at the Transitions Championship.  Goosen is making his inaugural appearance at the prestigious Charity Classic.

The 2009 CVS Caremark Charity Classic will feature a co-ed format for the first time in the tournament’s history.  Mixed-gender pairings are set to include Morgan Pressel with Davis Love III, Juli Inkster with Brad Faxon, Helen Alfredsson with Billy Andrade and Natalie Gulbis with Peter Jacobsen.  Back to defend their title will be 2008 tournament champions Camilo Villegas and Bubba Watson.  Other teams slated to attend include the uncle/nephew duo of Dana Quigley and Brett Quigley who will be making their 11th straight appearance.

Tournament week begins with the Pepsi Pro-Am on Sunday, June 21 followed by the two-day tournament Monday, June 22-Tuesday, June, 23 at the Rhode Island Country Club.  Participants will be competing for a purse of $1.55 million.

Tickets

Tickets for the star-studded CVS Caremark Charity Classic are now on sale.  A three-day pass is $60.  Sunday-only tickets are $20 each and tickets for either Monday or Tuesday are $25 each.  Children 12 and under are free with a ticketed adult.  The Tournament offers two easy ways to purchase tickets including by phone at 866-CVS-9441 or by visiting cvscharityclassic.com for a mail-in application. 

Beginning May 10th, free tickets for the CVS Caremark Charity Classic will be available through a special promotion at CVS/pharmacy stores in Rhode Island as well as select CVS/pharmacy locations in Massachusetts.  Further details about the free ticket promotion will be announced soon.
