Beau Rivage Resort & Casino Hosts Inaugural Legends' Cup Challenge Golf Tournament at Fallen Oak

Celebrity tournament to benefit Katrina Relief Charity; sports legends Ainge, Eruzione, Brett and Rypien to compete

Biloxi, Miss. (June 4, 2008) – A veritable who’s who in sports history will be on-hand September 23-26 to compete in the inaugural Legends’ Cup Challenge Golf Tournament at Fallen Oak. The tournament will feature sports heroes including Danny Ainge, George Brett, Mike Eruzione, and Mark Rypien competing in a unique format while testing their game on the Tom Fazio-designed golf course owned and operated by Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.

The Tournament will feature four, 9-player teams comprised of athletes from baseball, football, hockey, and basketball who will compete in a celebrity amateur Pro-Am event, followed by two days of match play competition.

“Teams will be comprised of players with a single digit handicap who must also be Hall of Famers, All Stars, or Olympians to be considered for the roster,” said Legends’ Cup Challenge Co-Founder and MLB veteran Wally Joyner. “We will add two at-large selections to round out the field to ensure that we have the best athletes vying for the Cup on one of the top courses in the country.”

Baseball Hall of Famer George Brett, “Each of us are competitive in our own right, but golf is the great equalizer and Fallen Oak will level the playing field even more. It’s anyone’s guess who will take the first-ever Legends’ Cup.”

Full team rosters will be announced in the near future.

George Corchis, president and chief operating officer of Beau Rivage said, “We are privileged to host the event to showcase our spectacular course, while raising charitable funds for the area through Katrina Relief Charities.”

The event is co-founded by Ron Gibb and will be managed by Peter Jacobsen Sports (PJS), a full-service sports and entertainment marketing firm founded by seven-time PGA tour winner Peter Jacobsen.
