
WOONSOCKET, R.I., (December, 19, 2007) -- Nearly 100 local nonprofit organizations experienced the spirit of the holiday season at CVS Caremark headquarters today as record-breaking funds raised by the 2007 CVS Caremark Charity Classic were presented to them. PGA TOUR professionals and CVS Caremark Charity Classic hosts Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon joined President, Chairman and CEO of CVS Caremark Tom Ryan in presenting $1.7 million in funds raised at the 2007 CVS Caremark Charity Classic and announcing a total of $10 million in funds raised since 1999.
"The outcome of the CVS Caremark Charity Classic seems to get better and better each year with the tournament generating increased funds to stay on par with the needs of local communities," said Ryan. "As our ninth year of orchestrating this world-class golf tournament draws to a close and we approach our ten-year mark, it gives our company and employees great pleasure to know that we have contributed $10 million in donations to so many worthy nonprofit organizations throughout Rhode Island and New England."
Ryan thanked Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon for bringing a level of unmatched quality and world-class players to the tournament. He also thanked the sponsors for their generosity, the volunteers for their time and commitment, and spectators for their enthusiasm and participation.
"Together, they are the key reasons why the CVS Caremark Charity Classic has grown to become such a great community event in Rhode Island each year," Ryan said.
The following nonprofit organizations are among the nearly 100 beneficiaries receiving funds from the 2007 CVS Caremark Charity Classic:
American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Bradley Hospital, Brain Injury Association, Boys and Girls Clubs of Providence, City Year, Golf Foundation of Rhode Island, Make a Wish Foundation of Rhode Island, March of Dimes, Meeting Street, Rhode Island Family Shelter, Save the Bay, Special Olympics of RI, Spurwink RI, San Miguel School, Sojourner House, Teaberry Knoll Academy of Therapeutic Riding, Teen Action Group, The Learning Center for the Deaf and Volunteer Center of Rhode Island.
